My name is Helen and the idea of setting up becomingmum.com came after having my first son at the end of 2001.

Like most pregnant women, I did find it hard finding good quality, affordable and stylish maternity wear.

9 months later, I was expecting again and had my second son in May 2003.

Second time round, although I did have my original maternity clothes to fall back on and the choice had slightly improved, I didn’t feel I was really getting my money’s worth for the amount of time I was wearing them.

Smart, comfortable and fashionable
Like many other working mums-to-be, I had the pressures of ensuring that my working wardrobe was smart enough and having clothes that were comfortable and fashionable for outside of work.

During both of my pregnancies, it seemed that all my friends were either getting engaged or married and so, like many other pregnant women I was faced with the task of finding something more dressy to wear.

All I can say is thank heavens for black jersey tie-back dresses, strappy sandals and a colourful wrap!

I found being pregnant such a special time and enjoyed every moment (well almost every moment) of it and part of that meant enjoying the change in my shape.

I advise any pregnant woman to show off their bump and make the most of their new found cleavage!

Enjoy it; it’s such a short time in your life but the end result is life changing.

After all, you are creating something special and that should be a celebration in itself!
